Q. What databases does the library have outside of NC LIVE?

Answer

The LRC provides access to several databases that are not a part of NC LIVE. The following databases are available for use through the LRC:

  • Gale Biography in Context - Online database of more than 650,000 biographical entries covering international figures from all time periods and areas of study
  • Gale Opposing Viewpoints in Context - Online library of current event topics -- the facts as well as the arguments of each topic's proponents and detractors
  • Gale POWERsearch - Discover a collection of authoritative periodicals, scholarly journals, newspapers, and reference content
  • Nursing and Allied Health Collection - Access subjects such as direct patient care and health care administration; includes over 400 titles within current and authoritative publications in the nursing curriculum
  • Nursing Resource Center - Easy-to-use searches for disease and drug overviews, care plans, journal results, animated anatomy and physiology diagrams

Follow these instructions for off-campus access databases not within NC LIVE:

  • You must have a PCC student e-mail address and a student ID number to login OR
  • Use the 14-digit barcode, on the back of your student picture ID card to login AND
  • You MUST be registered in the LRCs automated library system
